Materials: The first novel we will read is The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton. Please obtain a copy of this novel by the second week of school. This book can be purchased online through Amazon, Target, Walmart, Barnes and Noble, and ranges from 5.00$ - 10.00$ dollars. The Maricopa Public Library District's North Valley Branch (which is located on the campus at Boulder Creek High School) is a great resource, not only for the required readings, but also for leisure! Classroom Library: This library is located in our classroom, and is available to all my students through a simple check-in, check-out process. This library contains books of all genres, all topics, and was created for students to find something they love, something that resonates within them, something that "speaks" to them or that they can relate to. I am so proud of the class of 2022 and how much they embraced reading for leisure and fun, and I look forward to cultivating an environment within this class of 8th graders as well. This library has been created through generous donations, as well as my own personal funds. If you feel led to donate to our classroom library, please check out this amazon wish list.
Online Learning: We will be using the district-provided canvas app throughout the school year. Canvas will be updated on a daily basis and will contain weekly schedules, assignments, announcements, etc. Please refer to canvas frequently, and use it as your "go to" tool for success in class. Parents, please utilize powerschools and canvas as tools to monitor your students' success, and as always, please email me with any questions or concerns at lindsey.gruenewald@dvusd.org |
