Hi, Everyone! My name is Beth Rodriguez, the gifted specialist at Sunset Ridge. I have been an elementary teacher for 31 years and have been a HAWK for 18 years. I love Sunset Ridge and hope I can be a helpful resource for you and your children.
I grew up in East Central Illinois and have a bachelors degree in elementary education from Augustana College. I also have a masters degree in curriculum and instruction from the University of Illinois. I have endorsements in early childhood education, library media, and gifted education. Teaching runs in my family -- my parents were both teachers/administrators, my grandpa was a professor for SIU dental school, and my GREAT grandfather was also a teacher, principal, and superintendent.
My husband, Eddie, and I have been married for 27 years. He is a guidance counselor at Mountain Ridge High School. Our son, Eric, is a Sunset Ridge alum. He is getting a masters in Sports and Fitness Administration from the University of Houston. Go Cougs!
Registration for Fall Gifted Testing continues through August 8th. The window for Fall Gifted Testing will take place between August 11 - 15th. Fall Gifted Testing is available for all students in grades 1 and 3-12. Registration is available HERE.
Please note: guidelines for administering gifted testing necessitates that students are ineligible to attempt a retest within the same 12 month period. Retesting students within the same 12 months will disqualify testing results. (Example: A student who tested in the Spring on CogAT is not eligible to test on the CogAT in the Fall.)
