Hi Hawk Family! I'm Devon Lopez Hawkins, your enthusiastic art teacher. This is my nineteenth year of teaching in DVUSD and my third year in the art classroom. Music
My name is Ms. Jane Carreon, and I am so excited to introduce myself as the General Music teacher at Sunset Ridge. I am thrilled to help bring music back to our community! I am a recent graduate of Northern Arizona University, where I earned my degree in K-12 Music Education. I have a strong passion for working with children and helping students discover joy, creativity, and confidence through music.
In general music, students will have the opportunity to sing, move, play instruments, listen, and explore music from many cultures. My goal is to create a welcoming, engaging, and joyful classroom where every child feels successful and excited to participate.
As we rebuild the general music program, I am working to gather essential classroom materials and instruments. I have created a class Wishlist for families who may be interested in supporting our music room. Donations are completely optional, but greatly appreciated, and they directly benefit students by helping provide hands-on musical experiences.
The wishlist link can be found below:

I am truly looking forward to getting to know your children and becoming part of this school community. Thank you for your support as we bring music back to the classroom. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions.
PE
Jessica Tewers (K-8)

My name is Jessica Tewers, aka Coach Tewers. This is my 18th year in education so I bring both experience and energy to her role as a Physical Education teacher. 🙂 After 13 years in the 1st-grade classroom, I transitioned into PE—now in my fifth year—where I love combining my teaching background with my love of sports.
Married for 20 years and a proud mom of three boys, from a college junior to a 7th grader, I understand the importance of balance, teamwork, and perseverance—on and off the field. When I am not at school, you’ll likely find me cheering on my boys at a baseball field or basketball court. I also enjoy hiking, being outdoors, and connecting with students in ways that motivate and inspire.
I am excited to continue building strong relationships with my students and sharing the lifelong benefits of physical activity, sportsmanship, and staying active.
